Senses of Life

I love having my senses heightened. If you think about it our senses somewhat get taken for granted. Take a moment to be still and in that stillness try to take notice of all the things around you. What do you smell? I smell the lotion I rubbed on my body this morning--smells tropical. Yesterday, I chilled in the park; I couldn't help but to lay there and take in the scenery--the smell--it smelled of nature, of grass, of wind. The sounds I heard were of people enjoying there Sunday evening with the ones they love--so much laughter, screaming, being free.

I observed the wind dancing in the trees--moving the branches, leaves and pinecones. I felt the cold breeze caress my tummy--I began to shiver. I observed the special person laying by me---I admired his beauty, the rise and fall of his every breath, the blinking of his eyes, the way his eyes darted back and forth--scanning the park; the smile that formed on his face as he said something clever, something witty, something intriguing. I ran my fingers through his hair, enjoying how his hair felt sliding through my hands and fingers. In that moment, I couldn't help but smile, but to be still and enjoy every second, minute passing away with this special person by my side....
